Youth Councils are one of the most direct ways in which cities and city leaders can engage with the youth in their community. By educating youth on the roles and responsibilities of cities, to teaching leadership skills, to creating youth-led service projects, youth councils can play a vital role in creating healthy communities.
Youth Placemaking Grant
The Youth Placemaking Grant, a partnership between the Georgia Cities Foundation and GeorgiaForward, provides an opportunity for communities to engage young people in creating meaningful improvements to public spaces while strengthening their connection to their cities. Through the grant, youth can play an active role in identifying, planning, and implementing placemaking projects that help make their communities more vibrant, welcoming, and engaging.
Applications are due November 13, 2026. Communities interested in applying are encouraged to review the grant information and begin developing their project ideas with local youth. Review the Webinar Presentation to learning more about the program and opportunities for your community.
