Big Idea #1: Interconnectivity between Current Ecosystems

Part of the "TEAM GREEN" initiative

InfrastructureValdosta-LowndesUnder $250,000

Overview

Establish an integrated network between the parks and green spaces of Valdosta-Lowndes County to allow ease of access. This disperses visitation organically, creates equitable access, evenly distributes maintenance resources, and potentially increases business/tax revenues by making the city more attractive.

Action plan

Short-term
Partner with local groups (Chamber of Commerce) for funding; partner with the City of Valdosta for the RTP Grant and GF Trails for a comprehensive plan; request civil engineering plans/layouts with VLPRA to connect major parks.
Medium-term
Complete bidding and permitting processes; execute contractor selection.
Long-term
Break ground (clear pathways, integrate with current roadways/parks); install infrastructure/utilities (lighting, amenities); install trails/pathways (concrete/asphalt, safety guards, landscaping); complete maintenance plan.
