Big Idea #1: Titletown Teammates Mentorship Collective

Part of the "BLENDED LINES" initiative

EducationValdosta-LowndesUnder $250,000

Overview

Establish a unified, community-wide youth mentorship program designed to support youth aged 6–18. This collective builds a centralized umbrella framework that aggregates, recruits, and trains mentors from existing disparate groups (Boys & Girls Club, National Council of Negro Women, Greek organizations, 100 Black Men, Girls on the Run). It provides shared drives, matching systems, marketing infrastructure, and mandatory annual training to build trust, expand career/educational horizons, and optimize mental health care access.

Action plan

Short-term
(Short Term - Year 1 Launch): Conduct an environmental scan to inventory all existing active mentorship groups in the county; form a diverse Board of Directors spanning school systems, local businesses, and banking institutions; establish a shared digital asset folder/drive; launch the "Circle of Giving" multi-tiered sponsorship package; post and hire a dedicated Executive Director; institute mandatory background checks and build a standardized annual online mentor training program.
Medium-term
(Medium Term - Years 2-3 Operationalization): Formally match mentors with mentees across local city and county networks; build out a data collection framework to track qualitative and quantitative development metrics; establish a direct student referral pipeline in cooperation with local school superintendents and counselors; host interactive informational recruitment sessions inside local schools.
Long-term
(Long Term - Years 4-5 Scale-Up): Systematically update and adapt mentoring curricula based on accumulated metrics and school feedback; expand corporate and industry partnership networks to source new professional volunteers; implement a group-mentoring model framework to optimize staff capacity and introduce peer dynamics (1 mentor to 5 students).
