Downtown DevelopmentValdosta-Lowndes$1,000,000+

Overview

Execute a comprehensive, multi-phase urban renewal project within the Southside Historic Downtown using city-owned parcels as catalyst development properties. The initiative centers on adopting a Southside Reformation Overlay to allow flexible single-family and multi-unit residential units by-right in commercial zones, establishing mixed-use cultural spaces, incubating local entrepreneurship networks, and constructing the Southside Spirit Trail to connect key historic neighborhood landmarks with pedestrian signage.

Execute the first wave of district capital revitalizations across designated footprints, including Ashley Street parking lot renovations, active commercial clustering at Corn’s Corner, building out Thomas & Pierce Plaza, establishing the Shoppes on South Ashley, funding the Black History Museum (409 S. Ashley St), and implementing the permanent pedestrian closure of Patterson Street.
Long-term
inalize major long-term mixed-use architectural developments including the Legacy Lofts complex, South Patterson Studios, and the CoLLABorative hub space; complete construction on the fully integrated Southside Spirit Trail; roll out permanent neighborhood maintenance protocols.
